Business skills, such as budgeting and financial reporting, are never taught in many health departments or public health degree programs. In order to address this critical issue, the de Beaumont Foundation and the University of Miami are developing a program designed for public health professionals who are interested in learning business fundamentals.
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and School of Business Administration are working in partnership with the de Beaumont Foundation to offer the BEAM (Building Expertise in Administration and Management) certificate program.
BEAM will offer professionals a 20-hour, non-credit bearing, online educational experience that will be focused on leadership and management; budgeting and finance; and contracting. The program is designed to equip public health professionals with a set of skills that are in high demand and of critical need in health departments.
Enrollment is open now; the first cohort will begin in May 2018.
